President Trump canceled plans for a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday at Camp David, the presidential retreat in rural Maryland.
“Based on the possible bad weather conditions tomorrow, we will be having our Cabinet Meeting in the White House, and will be postponing the Cabinet trip to Camp David,” Mr. Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.
Presidents typically travel to Camp David via helicopter, but rain is expected in Washington on Wednesday, so the plans got nixed.
All Cabinet officials are expected to attend the meeting, including Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who is leaving her position next month. Ms. Gabbard resigned last week, citing her husband’s battle with cancer.
Mr. Trump’s last visit to Camp David was in June 2025, when he convened his foreign policy team to discuss the Iranian nuclear threat and war in Gaza.
The meeting on Wednesday will focus on the war in Iran, but is also expected to touch on the economy and the administration’s crackdown on fraud.
U.S. forces on Monday launched “self-defense” strikes on Iran, potentially complicating Mr. Trump’s negotiations to end the war that began on Feb. 28. In a statement, U.S. Central Command said the strikes occurred in southern Iran to “protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.”
Targets included missile-launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to set mines, the statement said.
The strikes occurred after a weekend of negotiations between the Trump administration and the Iranian regime to end the war. A fragile ceasefire took hold on April 8, though it has been interrupted sporadically by exchanges of fire.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the latest attacks, saying it would leave “no act of hostility unanswered.”
Camp David is located in the Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont, Maryland. It has been used by every president since Franklin D. Roosevelt.
