OPINION:
Politically motivated protests against law enforcement doing their jobs with regard to immigration are being given sensational, inordinate coverage and credibility, especially on TV (“Dems in Congress say conditions dire at N.J. detention site facing protests, reported hunger strike,” Web, May 27).
Arresting lawbreakers is never an attractive process. But purloining citizen jobs and benefits is not legitimate and is a violation of our immigration laws. The illegal invasion of our country is anarchy.
Allowing millions of these illegal invaders to gain access to our political system and have their interests gain priority over those of U.S. citizens is threatening to our democratic republic.
Media should verify that what the protestors allege is happening is truly happening, and the size and status of the protests should be put into proper context.
