Actor Dennis Quaid, 72, filed a petition last Friday to terminate his $13,750 monthly child support payments to his ex-wife Kimberly Buffington for their 18-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe.
Mr. Quaid’s daughter graduated from high school on May 23, while his son is set to graduate on June 3.
The couple’s 2018 divorce agreement requires that child support end when the children complete 12th grade, provided they are still under 19 and a full-time high school student.
The “Dragonheart” actor is also required to pay Ms. Buffington an additional annual sum if his income exceeds $1,314,000. He has asked the court to only consider the money he earned through the first half of 2026 — specifically until each child’s graduation date.
Under that original agreement, Ms. Buffington also received primary custody of the twins 75% of the time due to Mr. Quaid’s “career and business schedule.”
Mr. Quaid also has a son named Jack from his marriage to actress Meg Ryan.
Mr. Quaid has since remarried for the fourth time to Laura Savoie, 35.
He is known for films such as “The Parent Trap,” “Reagan” and “Far from Heaven.”
