A Homeland Security task force arrested 144 people during a monthslong operation to disrupt gangs, cartels, transnational crime groups and other criminal networks operating in the Las Vegas area.

Many of those arrested are linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and other crime organizations.

The multiagency operation, called “Loaded Dice,” began in July, focusing on groups involved in illegal firearms and narcotics trafficking, bulk cash smuggling, and associated violent crime, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada said.

Over the course of Operation Loaded Dice, the task force seized 290 guns, including machine guns, more than 1.2 tons of narcotics and more than $1 million in cash and various assets, federal prosecutors said.

The seized drugs included cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Federal prosecutors did not list the names of the 144 people arrested during the operation; 123 of the arrests were at the state level, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Homeland Security task forces were established by an executive order from President Trump on the first day of his current term.

“This strategic initiative highlights the importance of collaboration in keeping our community safe. Every suspect arrested, firearm recovered or case solved makes a significant impact on the well-being of those who live in Las Vegas,” said the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, one of the local agencies involved, according to KTNV-TV.
