President Obama will make his first appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” this week, his third time on late-night television.

Mr. Obama will tape the show Tuesday at the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It will be broadcast on NBC later that night (actually at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday).

The president will depart from Washington on Tuesday for a two-day trip to lobby Congress to keep student loan rates low, with appearances at UNC, the University of Colorado in Boulder and the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Mr. Obama also has appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno and on the “Late Show With David Letterman.”
