Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Tuesday the “group of 12” senators working on a deal to reopen the government and raise the debt limit is making progress, in part because of the relationships forged by women in the Senate.

Ms. Klobuchar, Minnesota Democrat, said the plan would reopen the government, pay the nation’s bill and commit Capitol Hill to negotiations over long-term spending through the budget blueprints they passed earlier this year.

Ms. Klobuchar told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that female members of the Senate have developed close relationships that help them find common ground without engaging in personal barbs on television or elsewhere.

“When you have that kind of day in and day out attacks, it’s hard to get things done,” she said.
