*Update: The Twitter account for AttackWatch sent out a tweet on Tuesday morning regarding a remark from former Massachusetts Governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Can the AttackWatch Twitter account, with it’s almost 10,000 followers and 10 tweets so far continue to keep up the pace?

Is the Obama campaign quietly pulling the plug on AttackWatch? AttackWatch.com, a website created by President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign Obama for America, was meant to monitor and respond to various criticisms about the president, has been strangely quiet for almost two weeks.

Since it’s initial launch in early September, AttackWatch has become a continuous joke among conservatives who post on Twitter, FaceBook, and other social networking sites.  In fact, AttackWatch was deemed a quick failure by the Washington Post:

It’s safe to say that in its 24 hours of existence, Attack Watch has already backfired, becoming a tool for conservatives to use against Obama 2012. A tweet by conservative author Brad Thor summed up the critics’s argument: “Wow, not only are Obama & Co. incredibly thin-skinned, they’re paranoid.”

Trying to carbon copy the Obama Campaign 2008 Fight the Smears website, AttackWatch appears to be slowing down. Apparently, conservatives have managed to mock the site into irrelevance. Their Twitter account hasn’t put out a tweet since September 14, as of this article’s posting. Perhaps, the Obama’s campaign’s death panel decided it had no productive life ahead of it.
