TUESDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS:

During the morning practice, the four quarterbacks participated in a fumble drill in which they fell on bouncing footballs. Said coach Jim Zorn: “You have to create this cradle, a fetal position if you will, to recover a fumble.”

In one of the more interesting goal-line plays of the day, quarterback Colt Brennan froze the defense by faking a handoff to running back Marcus Mason on the left side before throwing to tight end Fred Davis for an easy score.

As expected, Tuesday morning’s practice was much more physical than Monday afternoon’s no-pads workout. On one play, linebacker Alfred Fincher hit Mason well after Mason had gone out of bounds.

Quarterback Jason Campbell’s best pass of the day was a bomb to receiver Antwaan Randle El down the middle of the field. Randle El broke free from cornerback Kevin Barnes before making the catch.

FOUR DOWNS

WITH WR MARKO MITCHELL

1. On his reaction when the Redskins drafted him in the seventh round: “I was very excited. The Redskins are a good organization - a winning organization - and I was excited to be in a good conference with a good team.”

2. On what he has been learning during training camp: “I’ve been working on the routes that you do in the NFL compared to what you do in college because they are totally two different things.”

3. On his relationship with the other receivers on the team: “We all have a really good relationship, we have really good bonding. We help each other out. We show each other how to do things that the others might not know how to do.”

4. On what he needs to focus on during the preseason: “The thing I need to work on is, again, showing the team that I can play at this level and that I can be held to a higher standard.”
