NUGENT: Let freedom rock
Throughout our history, America has faced seemingly insurmountable domestic and international challenges.
Domestically, we have gone through a bloody civil war, a catastrophic dust bowl, a Great Depression, Sept 11, 2001 and survived a number of attempts by the Democratic Party to destroy America.
Internationally, America has saved the world from goose-stepping Nazi fascism, halted the spread of Russian communism and spilled American blood so that untold millions of people could drink from the well of liberty and freedom. America has liberated more people than any other nation in the history of the world. No need to apologize for America, President Obama.
Nothing has stopped the American experiment. We have always bounced back from adversity and become stronger, more resilient, more determined to build an even better America.
The reason America has prospered after suffering adversity is not that we are more rugged and tougher than other people. It’s because we are free from oppression and tyranny by our government. Thank God for the divine vision and intellect of our Founding Fathers.
Our Constitution limits the power of our government while providing individual freedoms for “we the people.” That has always been the key to American grit, strength and exceptionalism. Americans are citizens, not subjects. Freedom always crushes despots and voodoo punk-led oppression, tyranny and corruption.
Far more often than not, those nations that are poor are run by corrupt, power-abusing, anti-freedom regimes that oppress and control their people. There is a reason why people from Cuba risk their lives in rickety boats to get to America and that no one from America, including Michael Moore, is trying to escape America for Cuba. The Castro boys are punks.
The way out of our gigantic financial sinkhole begins with more freedom and more opportunity and much more control over the gluttonous, unaccountable Fedzilla, which is responsible for our fiscal quagmire.
We will not and cannot tax, borrow and spend out of this mess. Continuing down this absurd path is economic suicide. Only brain-dead socialists and dependent bloodsuckers who believe Fedzilla knows best could possibly advocate such an irresponsible financial position, which historically constricts economic growth and limits job growth.
As Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire stated recently, unless we turn things around, we run the risk of resembling the economic train wreck that is Greece in the next two years. Though I’m not an official economist, common sense dictates that good jobs won’t return with our level of deficit spending and our massive debt.
The way forward is to slash taxes across the board, reduce job-killing Fedzilla regulations, kill Obamacare and cut spending. This must be the battle cry of the newly elected GOP Congress. The GOP Congress must host a legislative Tea Party. Maybe toss a few liberals into the drink.
Entitlement spending, such as for the bizarre, runaway welfare, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, is the elephant in the room that no politician wants to address. If we are to save the country for future generations of Americans and ensure they have more opportunity than we do, we must address entitlement spending and address it now. Then kill it all.
With entitlement spending consuming the majority of the federal government’s budget, the newly elected GOP Congress should commission a panel of private-sector economic experts to study the entitlement elephant and issue specific, hard-hitting, actionable recommendations to develop ways to slay the entitlement spending elephant. I recommend that Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell lead the commission.
We have spent and borrowed our way into a corner in order to feed our addiction to entitlements. We still have options, but time is running out, and we must not continue this guaranteed financial tailspin we are in. Failing to address entitlement spending will fail future generations of Americans.
More economic freedom and more opportunity are the keys to our future. Believe it. Washington is not the answer - freedom is. Let’s get it on. Let freedom rock.
