ANOTHER TAR HEEL OUT

North Carolina held out fullback Devon Ramsay against Clemson due to the ongoing NCAA investigation into the football program.

That’s 11 players out due to a probe of improper benefits as well as possible academic misconduct.

The school also said senior safety Jonathan Smith, who has been held out of every game, won’t play this year. The status of Ramsay and eight other players remains in question, while cornerback Kendric Burney is suspended two more games because of improper benefits connected to several trips.

BARNER INJURED

Oregon backup running back Kenjon Barner was taken away in an ambulance after being injured on a first-quarter kickoff return against Washington State.

Barner was tended to on the field for nearly 10 minutes and medics brought out a backboard, but he eventually sat up and walked with assistance very slowly to a stretcher.

Barner was hurt when he was hit by Washington State’s Anthony Carpenter and fumbled.
