True pro-lifers, please stand up. Most of you are familiar with the War on Poverty and the War on Drugs, longstanding liberal policies that failed to deliver.
Well, heres another ongoing battle: Pro-lifers vs. pro-choicers, a worthy war rooted in morality.
On one side stand Planned Parenthood, Mayor Vincent C. Gray and other pro-choice supporters who argue taxpayers in D.C. and elsewhere should finance abortions with public dollars.
On the other stand true religious warriors, who contend that abortion violates the sixth commandment.
While there can be no debate about which side is right, the pro-choicers are pushing a new killer strategy.
Called the “Urban Initiative,” this new national effort targets pregnancy centers that support a woman or girl’s right to choose life, as well as local and state governments that are embracing that choice.
See, abortion-rights groups like Planned Parenthood, the National Organization for Women and the National Abortion Rights Action League don’t reject pregnancy out of hand; but procreation is definitely not their No. 1 objective.
NARAL, for example, publicizes the fact that its top three priorities are abortion, birth control and sex education.
Pregnancy falls in last place.
So to ensure public money keeps following into abortionists’ coffers, they are declaring war on pregnancy centers and regions of the nation where blacks and Hispanics are disproportionately undergoing abortions.
Fortunately, religious and pro-life groups are prepared for battle.
“Talk to pastors in urban areas and see if they support efforts to promote abortion and to crack down on organizations that are supporting pregnant women,” said the Rev. Dean Nelson, vice president of Care Net’s Underserved Outreach Program, which plans to open a new center in D.C. “I was there in Baltimore when the anti-pregnancy center bill mentioned [a NARAL] video was being discussed, and not a single local pastor I spoke with was in support of that bill. This so-called ‘urban initiative’ is an injustice toward the very women, children and families that live in urban areas.”
Statistics prove that while the agendas of NARAL, Planned Parenthood and others should be labeled “holocaust”: Female blacks and Hispanics comprise only 27 percent of the U.S. female population, but have 59 percent of all U.S. abortions.
And, as pro-lifers say, the nations capital has one of the highest abortion rates in the country: 265 abortions for every 100 live births.
