About 50 teens and young adults conducted a mass theft at a 7-11 store in Silver Spring, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The incident occurred Saturday shortly before midnight at the store in the 12200 block of Tech Road. Members of the group entered the store simultaneously and stole such items as snacks and drinks, police said.

When officers arrived at about 11:30 p.m., people in surrounding parking lots and on side streets began to leave. Officers stopped a group of six people, 16 to 18 years old. Each of the suspects had items from the store but could not provide a receipt for the items, said the officers, who took the suspects’ information for further investigation. Detectives think the suspects in the incident had been attending a birthday party in the area.
