NEW YORK (AP) - The small town spruce from Pennsylvania that came to make it big in New York City is set to get its chance to shine.
The 74-foot Norway spruce will be illuminated by 30,000 lights during a ceremony at Rockefeller Center Wednesday.
Tens of thousands of people expected to gather and watch in the surrounding streets will also get to take in performances by Cee Lo Green and the Radio City Rockettes. Faith Hill was originally scheduled, but is no longer performing.
The tree was cut down in Miffinville, Pa. and driven to Manhattan. It's decorated with five miles of lights.
Workers building Rockefeller Center set up the first Christmas tree there in 1931. The first official tree-lighting ceremony was in 1933.
