One man was fatally shot in Prince George's County on Wednesday night and another man was injured in a shooting in Northeast D.C., police said.

In a separate incident in the District, police found a body next to a burning car near Gallaudet University in Northeast but were unable to immediately piece together the circumstances leading up to the discovery.

The fatal shooting was reported around 7 p.m. outside of a Hillcrest Heights apartment complex, according to Prince George's County police. A man was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 3900 block of 23rd Parkway.

Early Thursday, police said little about the shooting and did not identify the man killed.

In the District, a shooting at about 8:30 p.m. at 18th Street and Benning Road in Northeast sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries. Police alerts said the man was shot multiple times, including in the head. Homicide investigators were called to the scene because of the severity of the injuries.

Investigators were also called to an incident in Northeast in which a body was found next to a burning car.

Police responded to 1401 Brentwood Parkway Northeast around 9 p.m. for a report of a vehicle accident with an injury, police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf said. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle on fire and a body next to it, but they were unable to get close to the car due to the flames.

No further information was available about what might have caused the fire, the person's identity or whether the vehicle was involved in a crash.
