Obama campaign spin-off group releases ad promoting Obamacare

- The Washington Times - Thursday, August 15, 2013

An advocacy group derived from President Obama's campaign team has released a new advertisement to promote the health care law.

Organizing for Action's ad features a North Carolina family who worries about an insurance renewal notice saying their premiums will go up to cover their young child, Liam.

"We had to have the insurance. We weren't going to roll the dice," says husband and father Russell.

"When the Affordable Care Act was passed, we ended up getting a 350-dollar rebate from our insurance company, and then his premiums would go down by about 60 dollars a month ... the law works," says Rebecca, the wife and mother in the story.

The ad is a part of a mounting war of words and advocacy in the weeks leading up to Oct. 1, when state-by-state insurance markets begin to enroll Americans who do not have employer-based coverage.

Republicans are hoping to dismantle or repeal the law, although they are divided over a plan to defund the law through an upcoming spending battle.
