In a season of giving and helping others, Wounded Warriors Family Support announced Monday that it will donate $1 million to the Gary Sinise Foundation to help build accessible homes for wounded veterans.
The Smart Homes include features like retractable cook tops and elevators, all accessible from an iPad, to help wounded warriors regain some independence, the Gary Sinise Foundation said.
“We’re honored to have Wounded Warriors Family Support stand side by side with the Gary Sinise Foundation,” Mr. Sinise said. “Their past and present contributions continue to help better the lives for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
Wounded Warriors Family Support collected the money during a five-month, cross-country tour to raise awareness about the cause. The donation will be used to build homes for three service members and their families.
“It is an honor to support Gary and the Gary Sinise Foundation and the great work his team does to heal the wounds medicine cannot,” said John Folsom, a retired Marine and founder of Wounded Warriors Family Support. “Gary ‘gets it’ and as a fellow Marine, I appreciate his selfless efforts to help those who have given so much for our country.”
