Newtown education board: More police, please

- The Washington Times - Friday, February 1, 2013

The Board of Education in Newtown, Conn., asked the town for funding in its upcoming budget for more armed police patrols to the community's four elementary schools.

Board members want an additional officer at each school, according to NBC. Police have taken up guard at all the schools in Newtown since the Dec. 14 shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary that killed 26 staffers and students.

"Our parents are demanding of us that things are made safe and secure and certain measures are put in place," said the board's chairwoman, according to NBC. "We're being very thoughtful."
