Iranian news agency adds sleeves to Michelle Obama’s Oscar dress

An Iranian government-controlled media agency has digitally altered first lady Michelle Obama’s dress in photos of her Sunday night appearance at the Oscars.

Fars News Agencyadded a high neckline and sleeves to Mrs. Obama’s sleeveless dress she wore to announce the Oscar for Best Picture.

Mrs. Obama presented the award to Ben Affleck for his film “Argo” remotely from the Diplomatic Room of the White House.

The image was altered to stay in line with the country’s strict Islamic dress codes, the Daily Mail reports.

Mohammed Hosseini, Iran’s Culture Minister, said “Argo” “distorted history” for propaganda purposes. The film has been banned from Iranian cinemas.
