Redskins’ RG3 re-injures knee in game vs. Seahawks

Quarterback out of game in fourth quarter

Robert Griffin III's right knee buckled underneath him. Replays led to gasps.

Bothered by the injury all game, the Washington Redskins' franchise quarterback was forced to leave the game with 6:19 left in the fourth quarter.

Griffin, who suffered a Grade 2 sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in the knee Dec. 9, has worn a brace since coming back Dec. 23 at the Philadelphia Eagles. Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC wild card round, he was hardly able to run and was 10 of 19 passing.

Griffin was ultimately knocked out once he could not corral a shotgun snap and couldn't even get up to pounce on the fumble.

The Seahawks recovered, but Griffin spent the next couple of minutes writhing in pain inside the Washington 5-yard line. He was looked at by Dr. James Andrews and team trainer Larry Hess.

Griffin walked off the field under his own power but was soon declared out for the rest of the game.

The Redskins were trailing 21-14 at the time, but any further injury to Griffin's knee could be a long-lasing problem.
