An online survey conducted by a website company aimed at identifying product discounts for customers found that while most single men said they were happy with their girlfriends, a handful of them would ditch their current love interests if they got an iPhone 5 in exchange.

Three percent of the 550 respondents in the SaleLand.co.uk survey said they would lose the girl in favor of the phone in a heartbeat. Another 5 percent said they’d ditch their girlfriends for a smartphone made by a company other than Apple, The Telegraph reported.

One respondent said: “I’ve been going out with the same girl for three years but if it meant getting my hands on a new iPhone, she’d be dumped instantly. To be honest, I’m getting a bit fed up with her anyway,” The Telegraph reported.

Another said: “Of course I wouldn’t leave my girlfriend for the latest Apple gadget — although I may be tempted when it comes to the new Samsung Galaxy.”

Survey officials said they were somewhat surprised by the findings.

“There’s been so much excitement building up around the release of the iPhone 5,” a company spokesman said in The Telegraph. “Nevertheless, you don’t expect to see … three percent ditch their current partner to get their hands on one.”

The actual poll wasn’t available online.
