LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The executive director of a Lansing nonprofit that works to help people prepare for disasters is being honored this week at a White House event.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate is expected to be among the officials on Tuesday honoring Erika Mahoney during the “Champions of Change” event. Mahoney is with Do 1 Thing, which also helps businesses and communities prepare.

In a statement, the White House says Mahoney is among those “doing extraordinary work to prepare individuals and communities for disasters and to help build a safer and more resilient nation.”
