NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Police say four people have been wounded in a shooting in Newark.

It happened Tuesday night near Irvine Turner Boulevard and West Kinney Street.

Police say officers responding to a report of a shooting found evidence, but no victims. A short time later they learned four gunshot victims had arrived at University Hospital in private vehicles, one of which was also struck by gunfire. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say they will not be releasing the names of the victims in order to protect them.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
