EAST PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged multiple boats at a Long Island marina.
One firefighter was hospitalized for possible carbon-monoxide poisoning.
Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/2bdEwfo ) says the fiery blaze at the Patchogue Shores Marina in East Patchogue Tuesday night produced heavy smoke on the water.
Suffolk County fire officials say firefighters found several boats on fire when they responded to a call at 7:12 p.m.
They say the fire “rekindled,” possibly in one of the boats, at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday.
Nearby residents were told to keep their windows closed for several hours due to the burning fiberglass material on the boats.
Two other firefighters were injured but their conditions were unknown.
