The Nationals’ only effective left-handed reliever was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.
Sammy Solis was placed on the disabled list because of shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to Aug. 16.
Replacing him will be Koda Glover, a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher who will join the Nationals for the second time this season. Despite being right-handed, Glover was very effective for Triple-A Syracuse against left-handed hitters this season, where he held them to a .161 average. Glover pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday.
Veteran left-handed reliever Oliver Perez has been ineffective in August. His ERA for the month is 13.50. His ERA for the season, coming into Wednesday, is up to 4.96.
