JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State says senior linebacker Khari Lain has been suspended for the upcoming football season.

The university would not elaborate on the suspension but said it was issued by the NCAA for not meeting a policy during the team’s appearance at last year’s Cure Bowl, where Arkansas State defeated Central Florida 31-13.

Coach Blake Anderson says he’s disappointed that Lain won’t be playing his senior season but noted that Lain is on track to graduate in December with his bachelor’s degree in just 3½ years.

Lain played all 13 games last season and recorded 32 tackles.
