With Will Compton joining the Tennessee Titans, the former Washington Redskins linebacker wanted to make it clear — the decision wasn’t easy.

“Before I get all amped, I really want y’all to know this was also hard as hell,” he tweeted Monday.

Compton spent five seasons with the Redskins, latching on as an undrafted free agent. He developed and eventually became a starter.

Compton signed a one-year contract worth up to $2 million with the Titans. He’ll compete for a starting job.

Last season, he played in nine games before suffering a season-ending foot injury. He started as a backup, but filled in as starter once Mason Foster was shelved with a shoulder injury.

The Redskins valued Compton for his intensity and intelligence. Besides starting, he also contributed on special teams.
