Millions of seniors face double-digit hikes in their Medicare prescription premiums next year unless they actively search out cheaper coverage, a new analysis of government data finds.
"There is no political consensus to do anything significant," said Dan Mendelson, president of Avalere Health, a market analysis firm. "There is a collective walking away from things that matter. All the stuff on the lists of options becomes impossible, because there is no give-and-take."
"It's going to dramatically increase access to pharmaceuticals in the exchanges," Mr. Mendelson said. "It's a big deal. This makes the exchange offerings more consistent with what employers offer."
