Last night at MCI Center:

17-4Lead for Georgetown over the Red Storm with 10:42 remaining in the first half. While St. John’s was busy missing nine of its first 10 shots against Georgetown’s nasty matchup zone, the Hoyas took charge behind the play of sophomore center Roy Hibbert and senior slasher Brandon Bowman, who combined to outscore St. John’s 19-18 in the first half.

0.44-to-1 Assist-to-turnover ratio for St. John’s in the first half. The Red Storm had just four assists against nine turnovers en route to posting just 18 first-half points. Point man Daryll Hill was the team’s principal culprit, committing five turnovers in just 13 minutes. Hill should consider changing his nickname from “Showtime” to “Sloptime.”

The award goes to the Georgetown student section, which tormented a trio of George Washington fans who showed up in face paint and the Colonials’ signature foam yellow three-cornered hats. The Georgetown students pointed at the threesome and chanted “overrated” and “safety school” to the delight of the crowd.
