Last night at MCI Center

Turnovers committed by Georgetown in the first half, as the sloppy, sluggish Hoyas easily surpassed their season average (11.4) in a period that saw them fall behind 30-24. Starters Roy Hibbert, Jon Wallace and Brandon Bowman were the primary culprits with three miscues apiece in the half.

Play of the game

No doubt riled by a pair of questionable early second-half foul calls, sophomore center Roy Hibbert collected a pass from D.J. Owens with just under 12:00 left, spun around 6-foot-10 Providence center Herbert Hill with an NBA-caliber drop step and practically tore the rim off the backboard with a savage, howling slam. Hibbert was fouled by the helpless Hill on the play and consummated the throwback three-point play to give the Hoyas a 44-34 lead.

Injury update

Georgetown junior forward Sead Dizdarevic was sporting a clear facemask at the game as the result of an injury suffered in practice earlier this week. Apparently, teammate Roy Hibbert came crashing down on Dizdarevic while the two were scrambling for a loose ball during a scrimmage, fracturing both Dizzy’s nose and his right cheekbone.
