Last night at Verizon Center

A bad knee made Tampa Bay center Ryan Craig a scratch last night. Entering last night, his five goals were more than Vincent Lecavalier (two), Brad Richards, Vaclav Prospal (one), Caps-killer Dan Boyle (zero) and Martin St. Louis (one) had combined.

The Caps welcomed the 5,000,000th fan to see an NHL game at Verizon Center, formerly MCI Center. The building opened on Dec. 5, 1997, with the Caps winning 3-2 over Florida on a goal by Jeff Toms.

7 Straight games to start the season with a point for left wing Alexander Semin, who scored the Caps’ first goal. The streak is the longest of Semin’s career.
