AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE

CHICAGO — A fight over Fourth of July fireworks left three persons dead and two injured when an angry firefighter shot his Ohio neighbors, police say.

The fight broke out around midnight over a loud party in Cleveland.

The 35-year-old firefighter asked his neighbors to keep the noise down as they were setting off fireworks, police told Cleveland’s NewsChannel5.

He pulled out a gun and started shooting when they did not stop.

One man was shot in the shoulder as he jumped in front of his girlfriend to save her, witnesses told the TV station.

The party’s host Jake Feichtner, 24, was among those killed.

Seven handguns and five long guns were removed from the firefighter’s home after he was arrested. He has not been charged.

His fellow firefighters were in shock at the news, saying he had been with the department for 12 years and was an average guy who “came in, did his job, caused no problems and went home.”
