BELTSVILLE, Md. (AP) – Prince George’s County authorities say a person was killed and a young child was injured in a weather-related crash on Interstate 95 as heavy rain from Tropical Storm Hanna caused hazardous driving conditions.

Officials say the driver of a sports utility vehicle died after the vehicle veered off southbound I-95 near Powder Mill Road in Beltsville, and hit a tree. A young child in the vehicle was also injured.

Authorities say more than three dozen crashes have occurred in the county as rising water levels prevent proper draining and causes water to pool. Emergency crews say most of the crashes involve single vehicles, which indicates the weather is a factor in the incidents.
