OPINION:
It has been said that President Obama is the most religious president since President Carter. I seriously question this conclusion because a person who advocates abortion shows a serious lack of knowledge or understanding of biblical or early Christian teachings.
In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, God tells us in the Books of Job, Psalms, Isaiah and Jeremiah that it is he who makes us, forms us and knows us - all while we are still in the womb. The Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who lived about the time of Jesus, wrote in his “Antiquities of the Jews, Book II, article 25, “The Law, moreover, enjoins us to bring up all our offspring, and forbids women to cause abortion … and if any woman appears to have done so, she will be a murderer of her child, by destroying a living creature, and diminishing human kind.”
In New Testament times, there are many references in the apocryphal books of the Didache, the Epistle of Barnabas, Tertullian’s “The Apology,” Hippolytus’ “Refutation of All Heresies,” the Apocalypse of Peter, the Clementine Homilies and others that condemn abortion in no uncertain terms.
