The wooded community of Great Falls in Northern Virginia has become well-known for expansive estate homes linked by equestrian trails and walking paths. Sophisticated buyers looking for privacy find the area appealing since most of the homes are set on 1 acre or more.

At Grovemont, off Georgetown Pike in Great Falls, Gulick Group Inc. is building 13 new estate homes on sites of about 2 acres. The community is a short drive from Great Falls Center for shops and restaurants and from Reston Town Center.

Homebuyers looking for substantial living space should be satisfied with the residences at Grovemont. The Winthrop model, priced at $2,495,500, has about 8,200 finished square feet. The Wentworth model, an inventory home that has already been built, has more than 12,000 finished square feet. This home is priced from $2,995,000.

All the homes at Grovemont will have brick exteriors with painted wood trim, brick stoops, steps and front walks and custom-designed landscaping. Each home has an asphalt driveway leading to a three-car side-entry garage.

Inside, the homes have 9- and 10-foot-high ceilings on all three levels, oak stairs, three-piece crown moldings, gas fireplaces, hardwood floors in the living areas, ceramic tile floors in the baths, sunroom, laundry room and mudroom; high-tech wiring, multiple-zone gas heat and high-efficiency air conditioning and two gas water heaters. The kitchens have 42-inch wood cabinets, a desk, a butler’s pantry, Corian or granite countertops, a center island and professional-grade appliances. The master bath has a soaking tub, a glass-enclosed shower and Corian or granite vanity tops.

The Wentworth model features a grand foyer with arched openings to the formal living room and formal dining room, along with an entrance to the two-story central hall. A curving staircase leads from the hall to the upper level. The living room has a wall of windows and arched opening to the conservatory, a hexagon-shaped room with five walls of windows.

The main level also features an octagonal library with walls of windows and a family room with a coffered ceiling, decorative columns and a curving wall of windows.

Adjacent to the family room are a morning room, a center-island kitchen and a sunroom with a wall of windows.

Near the kitchen are a rear staircase, a walk-in pantry, a laundry room and a mudroom with a walk-in closet, a bench and built-in storage cubbies. This level has two powder rooms, one near the library and one near the kitchen.

Upstairs, a loft overlooks the two-story central hall and provides a space for a reading nook or children’s study. Two bedrooms open off the loft, each with a private full bath, a walk-in closet and pull-down stairs to attic storage. Another bedroom with a walk-in closet and private bath is at the back of this level.

The fifth bedroom has an arched opening and a step-up with double doors to get into the room, which has a curving wall of windows, a walk-in closet and a private full bath.

The master bedroom suite occupies a private wing reached through double doors into a sitting room with French doors leading to a private deck. Decorative columns flank the entrance into the bedroom, which has a coffered ceiling and a curving wall of windows. The bedroom suite has three walk-in closets. The luxurious master bath features a corner soaking tub, an oversized shower with two seats and two separate vanities.

The lower level can be completed with a recreation room, a game room, an exercise room, a media room, a den, a wine cellar and a full bath.
