PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad | Christian Gomez’s penalty-kick goal was all D.C. United needed for a 1-0 victory at San Juan Jabloteh in the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday night.

Noel Williams handled the ball inside the box to give United the penalty in the 14th minute. Gomez sent a low, hard shot in to the left corner past goalkeeper Cleon John.

Both teams entered pointless after two Group B games. Mexico’s Toluca plays Marathon of Honduras on Thursday.

D.C. United keeper Milos Kocic had to withstand several shots and was actually beaten twice by Jabloteh’s Jason Marcano. He chipped a ball over Kocic in the 36th minute, but it went off the post. In the 42nd, Marcano’s lob was cleared off the line by Julius James.
