THE COMPLAINT: The Federal Trade Commission accused Intel Corp. of abusing its dominance in computer chips to illegally thwart rivals.

THE RESOLUTION: Intel agreed to change its business practices in several key ways to end the harshest antitrust lawsuit Intel has faced yet from government regulators.

THE FUTURE: The FTC argues that computer buyers should see lower prices as a result of the settlement announced Wednesday. But any changes would likely be gradual, and possibly imperceptible, to most people, because prices for computer chips have fallen steadily for so long.
