How did you get started in real estate? Real estate is my second career after being a long-term Foreign Service officer. I chose this field because I like to work with people and enjoy matching people with houses they can transform into homes.

How long have you been with the current company? 11 years

Licenses and designations: licensed in Maryland

Associations: Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, Maryland Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Closing each transaction on time and without complications.

Area of specialty: I proudly work in all price ranges and areas of Montgomery County.

Highest-priced home sold: $860,000

Most memorable house: A young couple I was working with had their eyes on a Colonial on a large lot, something they had always dreamed of owning - but which wasn’t in their price range. After months of waiting, and after they had almost given up, the price suddenly dropped. We had to overcome several obstacles to get the deal done, but now their two rescued greyhounds are running in their spacious new backyard, and my clients are overjoyed.

Worst experience buying or selling a house: My clients and I did a final walk-through prior to settlement on a home they were excited to move into. The deal almost turned into a nightmare when we came to the property and found that the basement was flooded by a leaking ice-maker hose! We requested that the seller set funds aside for the repairs and guarantee the work; this enabled settlement to occur as scheduled.

Age: 54

Family: married, a daughter in college

Pets: Aja, a rescued mixed breed/Vizsla dog

Education: Bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgetown University, liberal studies with a focus on international affairs

Outside interests: I enjoy gardening, interior design and collecting antiques.

Last book read: “Spektrum Amerika” (in German) edited by Wulf Stratowa, a compilation of thoughts on the United States from the perspective of European authors and thinkers

Last movie seen: “Gosford Park”

What kind of car do you drive? Toyota Prius

Describe your personal dream house: Honestly, I have not been thinking that much about my “dream home.” My family and I still live in the first house we bought, 20 years ago, which we turned into a comfortable space to which we love to come home. To me, a dream home is not about acres or luxury, but rather about creating a relaxing environment that reflects one’s personality.
