SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. (AP) - A prosecutor in California says Randy Quaid and his wife have been arrested in Canada and their bail increased to $500,000 apiece.

The Quaids are wanted in Santa Barbara where they missed a court hearing Monday on felony vandalism charges.

Santa Barbara County Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter says the Quaids had been arrested in British Columbia and a judge raised their bail Friday morning.

The Quaids were expected to appear before a Canadian judge late Friday.

They were arrested last month on suspicion of illegally squatting in the guest house of a home they previously owned.

Randy and Evi Quaid repeatedly missed court hearings earlier this year on charges they defrauded an innkeeper.

A phone message for the Quaids’ attorney, Robert Sanger, was not immediately returned.
