The enclave of luxurious homes known as Phillips Park off Foxhall Road in Northwest Washington has added an interesting mix of new, custom-designed homes to the Wesley Heights neighborhood. At 2104 Dunmore Lane NW in Phillips Park, the architecture firm Neumann, Lewis and Buchanan and CIMA Design & Build collaborated on an Italian-style villa designed for entertaining.

Recently completed and on the market for $3,795,000, this three-level residence has nearly 7,400 finished square feet. All the rooms are oriented to the outdoors, in the Italian style, with multiple rooms opening onto the main-level loggia, the upper-level balcony and the lower-level terraces. The upper-level balcony has a view of Washington National Cathedral.

Buyers can add a swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and an elevator to the property.

The exterior of this home features a pre-cast stone entry. The home is built of stucco and has a natural clay terra-cotta roof with copper accents. A stone stoop and front walk with wrought-iron railings lead to the solid wood door. Stone arches add style above the doors of the two-car garage. Professional landscaping enhances the entire property, which rests on approximately a quarter-acre.

The front door opens onto a grand foyer entrance with hardwood flooring and a sweeping view through the two-story living room to the loggia. The entrance provides the perfect setting for a reception and includes a 12-foot-high ceiling, a powder room and closets.

Columns separate the foyer from the living room, which has a wood-burning fireplace and three sets of French doors opening onto the loggia. The main level has white oak hardwood flooring and 12-foot ceilings, custom-designed wood molding and solid wood interior doors. The formal dining room has windows on two sides and a gas fireplace.

The main level also has a library with French doors to the living room and French doors to the loggia, multiple windows and built-in bookcases.

The center-island kitchen also has French doors to the loggia and opens into an expansive hearth room or family room with two walls of windows and a gas fireplace flanked by built-in bookcases. The kitchen has state-of-the-art appliances and limestone counters. A butler’s pantry links the kitchen with the formal dining room. Adjacent to the butler’s pantry is a home office with a data-ready work station and a double window. The home office also could function as a room-size pantry.

The main level also has a guest bedroom with a walk-in closet and a private marble bath. Two sets of white oak stairs lead to the upper level, one from the foyer and the other from near the kitchen.

Upstairs, the master suite covers almost half of the upper level. A double-door entrance leads into the suite, which has a triple walk-in closet, a dressing area and a luxury bath with marble floors, a soaking tub and an oversized shower with multiple jets and a frameless glass enclosure. French doors link the bedroom with a balcony.

The second bedroom has a private full bath with limestone flooring, while the third and fourth bedrooms share a hall bath with limestone flooring. The fourth bedroom has two closets and French doors to the balcony.

The upper level also has a laundry room and a hall with columns overlooking the two-story living room. The upper and lower levels have 9-foot ceilings.

The finished lower level has a home theater, a fitness and game room, a powder room and a wine room with built-in wine cabinets. Three sets of French doors open from the wine room to the lower terrace, which has an adjacent outdoor dining terrace enclosed by stone walls. This level also has a bedroom with a private full bath and a walk-in closet.

The lower level includes an oversized storage room and laundry room. The home has a three-zone heating and air conditioning system, a hot-water recirculation system on all three levels, a central vacuum system, a security system with camera-ready wiring, and a complete audio and video wiring system.
