NEW YORK (AP) - Two British television stations have won International Emmy Awards in the news and current affairs categories for their coverage of the Taliban in Pakistan.

Sky News received the award in the news category for its March 2009 report that the Taliban were in control of a large region in Pakistan.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that the award in the current affairs category went to “Dispatches _ Pakistan’s Taliban Generation,” a special produced by October Film for Channel 4. The show investigated how the Pakistani Taliban is creating a generation of child terrorists prepared to kill both inside and outside Pakistan.

The awards were presented Monday night during a ceremony at the Frederick P. Rose Hall of Jazz at Lincoln Center at which the U.S. News & Documentary Emmy Awards were also handed out.
