MADRID (AP) - The film ‘Pa Negre’ (Black Bread) dominated Spain’s version of the Oscars by taking nine trophies with its tale of a family drama in post-Civil War Spain.

The Catalan-language movie won best director honors for Augusti Villaronga at the Goya Awards late Sunday, as well as best film and best actress for Nora Navas.

Javier Bardem was named best actor for his role in “Biutiful” by the Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu in the 25th edition of the Goyas.

That tale of life, death and immigration on the rough side of Barcelona also is nominated for an Oscar, and Bardem for best actor in it.

The Goya prize for best European film went to “The King’s Speech” starring Colin Firth.
