RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Voters have filled two vacancies in Virginia’s General Assembly in special elections.

Unofficial results posted on the Virginia State Board of Elections‘ website show Republican William M. Stanley defeated Democrat Henry A. “Hank” Davis Jr. Tuesday in the 19th Senate District race. With all votes counted, Stanley received 63.5 percent of the vote to 38.4 percent for Davis.

Republican Gregory D. Habeeb won election Tuesday in the 8th House of Delegates District race. Habeed had 61.4 percent of the vote to 38.4 percent for Democrat Ginger Mumpower.

The board expects to certify the results Wednesday.

The vacancies were created by the elections of former Sen. Robert Hurt and former Delegate Morgan Griffith to Congress.
