CHICAGO (AP) - Washington interim manager John McLaren was ejected in his first game at the Nationals’ helm.

He was tossed along with left fielder Jerry Hairston Jr. in the eighth inning Friday night after umpires reversed a ruling in favor of the Chicago White Sox.

McLaren was made interim manager Friday after Jim Riggleman’s abrupt resignation Thursday because he was unhappy that his contract option for 2010 hadn’t been picked up.

Chicago’s Paul Konerko hit a grounder to shortstop Ian Desmond, who threw wide to first. First baseman Michael Morse tried to tag Konerko as he went by, and first base umpire Mike Estabrook initially ruled Konerko out.

But after Konerko protested, the umpires conferred and reversed the call _ after the Nationals had left the field.
