SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds and catcher Ryan Hanigan have agreed to a $4 million, three-year contract.

Hanigan gets a $300,000 signing bonus and salaries of $450,000 this year, $1.2 million in 2012 and $2.05 million in 2013.

His 2013 salary can escalate by up to $400,000 for games started in 2012: $50,000 each for 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100, and $75,000 apiece for 105 and 110. He has those same provisions as performance bonuses for the 2013 season.

Originally signed out of a tryout camp, Hanigan hit .300 with five homers and 40 RBIs in 203 at-bats last season.

The 30-year-old would have been eligible for arbitration next winter. He now will be eligible for arbitration after the 2013 season
