NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - Indie folk rockers The Decemberists will join singer-songwriters including Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch for a weekend of music at the 2011 Newport Folk Festival.

The 52nd annual festival’s lineup, announced Wednesday, also includes Elvis Costello performing an acoustic set, Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, and festival favorites including Ramblin’ Jack Elliot and Mavis Staples. Tickets go on sale Thursday.

The festival, known as the place where Bob Dylan went electric in 1965, will be held the weekend of July 30 and 31 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport. Founder, George Wein (WEEN’), decided this year to put both the Newport folk and jazz festivals under the umbrella of a nonprofit.

The festival’s producers say it’s possible they’ll add a Friday night event with artists to be announced.
