A 19-year-old found fatally shot in Northeast early Sunday was a ward of the District’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, The Washington Times has learned.
Jermaine Anderson of the 4400 block of Pond Street NE, was actively committed to DYRS, agency sources told The Times.
Police say officers responded on Sunday at approximately 1 a.m. to the 1800 block of Central Place in Northeast for the sounds of gunshots. They found Anderson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
