NEW YORK (AP) - “The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity” has received the Lucille Lortel Award for best play of the off-Broadway theater season, while “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” was named best musical.

The awards were announced Sunday night at New York University’s Skirball Center. They’re named after Lucille Lortel, a theatrical pioneer who died in 1999 at age 98.

The best revival award went to Tony Kushner’s “Angels in America” by the Signature Theatre Company. “Gatz,” a seven-hour performance of “The Great Gatsby,” won two awards: outstanding alternative theatrical experience and the best director prize for John Collins.

Laurie Metcalf won the lead actress award for “The Other Place.”

The show “Peter and the Starcatcher” won two awards _ for best choreographer Steven Hoggett and for Christian Borle as outstanding lead actor.
