NEW YORK (AP) - Broadway’s “Sister Act” has anointed a new Mother Superior.

Producers said Tuesday that Carolee Carmello will take over the role from Victoria Clark on Nov. 19.

The musical, based on the 1992 movie of the same name starring Whoopi Goldberg, has original tunes by songwriter Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. It stars Tony Award-nominated Patina Miller in Goldberg’s old role.

Clark originated the role on Broadway and earned a Tony nomination.

Carmello has extensive Broadway experience, including in “The Addams Family,” “Mamma Mia!” “Lestat,” “Urinetown,” “Kiss Me, Kate” and “The Scarlet Pimpernel.”
