ANALYSIS/OPINION:

People who wonder why this country has declined so much in the past half-century need look no further than New York and, most recently, Brookline, Mass.

In the United States, we have always been for God and country. Yet in New York last weekend, no religious personnel or prayers were allowed in the Sept. 11 ceremony. And in Brookline, officials are considering forbidding recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in the local school district.

We were able to reach the point we did in the 20th century because - not in spite - of our love of God and country. This business of not allowing God in has quickly eroded everything we gained over the first two centuries. Let’s bring God and pride back into our country. God bless America.
