LOS ANGELES (AP) - Andy Mooney, the head of The Walt Disney Co.’s consumer products division for nearly 12 years, is stepping down.

In an email to staff on Tuesday, Mooney said that the time was right to take his experience and enter a “leadership role with another organization.”

Disney did not immediately say where Mooney would work next.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement that Mooney’s legacy included creating new franchises such as the Disney Princess line of characters and products.
